FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A "Free Palestine" march and rally was held on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Fayetteville.
It took place at the Washington County Courthouse where dozens united to protest.
Members from the Arkansas Anti-war Alliance and NWA for Palestine groups gathered for a call on international officials to free Palestine from genocide, apartheid, and occupation.
Speakers at the rally said that American politicians have defended Israel far too long and are calling for an end to U.S. taxpayer funding to the country.
Abel Thomason, the founder of the Arkansas Anti-War Alliance says the U.S. hasn't been honest about its involvement in past wars involving Gaza.
"Virtually all U.S. wars come wrapped in a pack of lies. U.S.'s Israeli war on Palestinians is also based on many lies. They are lying about the causes of the conflict, suggesting this all started last month on Oct. 7 with Israel being attacked for no reason, and Israel is just some innocent victim. They want us to ignore 75 years or more of well-documented history," said Thomason
The march went from the courthouse all the way down to Dickson Street to the rally at the UA Student Union Mall. Other speakers included voices from across the Middle East, students, and a United Nations employee with experience in Gaza.
