BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin and 13 state legislators have endorsed Chief Deputy Prosecutor Bryan Sexton in his run for Benton County prosecuting attorney, according to a press release.

"Bryan Sexton has my full support to be the next prosecuting attorney for Benton County,” Griffin said. “There’s no question he has the best experience and track record to do the job. Benton County continues to grow rapidly, and we need strong law enforcement to keep crime under control."

Other state legislators, who represent Benton County in several districts, endorsing Sexton include:

  • Sen. Josh Bryant (District 32)
  • Rep. Rebecca Burkes (District 11)
  • Rep. Grant Hodges (District 14)
  • Rep. Brit McKenzie (District 7)
  • Sen. Tyler Dees (District 35)
  • Rep. John Carr (District 15)
  • Rep. Mindy McAlindon (District 10)
  • Rep. Scott Richardson (District 13)

  • Rep. Delia Haak (District 17)
  • Rep. Austin McCollum (District 8)
  • Rep. Kendon Underwood (District 16)
  • Sen. Bart Hester (District 33)

“These elected leaders understand the importance of this position, and they recognize that I am ready to do the job on day one," Sexton said. "Our local legislators have been an instrumental part of the reforms and improvements to Arkansas’s criminal laws in recent years. I appreciate their hard work and look forward to implementing these important changes to our criminal justice system."

Sexton joined the prosecutor's office as chief deputy prosecutor in 2006.

If elected as prosecuting attorney, Sexton said, "I’ll work every day to maintain law and order, support law enforcement officers who are on the front lines, and put violent criminals behind bars.”

The election will be March 5. Early voting begins Feb. 20.
