MILWAUKEE — The Natural State was represented on the main stage at the Republican National Convention Tuesday night, as Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Senator Tom Cotton delivered speeches.
Both Sanders and Cotton showed their support for former President Trump.
Cotton addressed the convention with a message about border security, saying when it comes to immigration policies, Trump has a ‘record of security, prosperity and stability.’
“That's our choice: a secure border and an immigration system that works for all of our citizens … or Joe Biden’s chaos,” Cotton said. “Donald Trump said you can't have a nation without borders, and he defended those borders.”
Meanwhile, Governor Sanders said Republican governors across the country have been leading the charge on issues like border security, crime, drugs, taxes, and school choice.
She also said she wanted to go beyond discussing Trump’s policies and leadership and talk about the person she knows, sharing stories from her time as his White House Press Secretary.
“When the president hired me, I was the first mom and only the third woman to ever serve as the White House Press Secretary,” Sanders said.
“In that role, I endured relentless attacks from the left … Our president pulled me aside, looked me in the eye, and said, ‘Sarah, you're smart, you're beautiful, you're tough, and they attack you because you're good at your job. Never let them stop [you from] fighting.’”
