LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas voters have let their voice be heard and have decided to whether to approve or deny two ballot measures proposals.
Below you will find the latest voting totals for each issue and any statements made by the groups associated with each measure.
Issue 1
As of 8:55 p.m. the Associated Press called that Issue 1 was approved by Arkansas voters.
Around 90% of voters have approved the measure while 10% have voted against it.
The proposed constitutional amendment allows for lottery proceeds to fund scholarships and grants for vocational-technical schools and institutes.
Currently, funds from lottery proceeds are used to create scholarships for two and four-year colleges and universities.
This was approved to appear on the ballot by the Arkansas legislature, who have the ability to approve up to three constitutional amendments on the ballot.
Issue 2
As of 12:28 a.m. on Nov. 6, around 56% have voted for the measure while 44% have voted against it. The Associated Press has officially called the race and the proposal has been approved.
This proposal looks to remove a casino license required for Pope County while also ensuring that any new casinos will need to be approved by voters.
Pope County was designated as one of four casino locations in a 2018 amendment approved by voters. But county residents and local officials have been battling over the casino proposals which have all been stalled in the courts since the law was enacted.
Issue 3
Although the medical marijuana expansion proposal will be seen on ballots, any votes cast for or against it will not count.
