Live: Arkansas primary election results for March 5, 2024

Statewide, we're looking at deciding on the Republican candidates for U.S. House District 3, a handful of House District representatives, and several local races.

ARKANSAS, USA — The Arkansas primary election (also known as Super Tuesday) is on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. 5NEWS will have live election results both state and nationwide.

Super Tuesday is when several states in the U.S. vote on the presidential primary, usually taking place in February or March. In Arkansas, several statewide and local primaries will decide who the final candidates will be up for election in November.

Polls are open in Arkansas from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 5.

In Arkansas, party affiliation is optional for voters. Voters are given the option to affiliate or not to affiliate with a political party on their voter registration form.

Statewide, we're looking at deciding on the Republican candidates for U.S. House District 3, a handful of Arkansas House District representatives, and several local millage taxes, for example.

Presidential candidates

In the Democratic primaries, President Joe Biden is running against U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, who represents the 3rd District of Minnesota. The Republican primaries will decide between former President Donald Trump, former United Nations Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, or Texas pastor Ryan Binkley. 

Democrat:

  • President Joe Biden: 90% (Winner)
  • Marianne Williamson: 4%
  • Rep. Dean Phillips: 2%

Republican:

  • Donald Trump: 72% (Winner)
  • Gov. Nikki Haley: 22%
  • Ryan Binkley: 1%

State Supreme Court candidates

Two nonpartisan races are being held for the state Supreme Court chief justice and position two on the court. 

Four people are running for the Arkansas Supreme Court chief justice position, including Justice Karen R. Baker, former state Rep. Jay Martin, Justice Barbara Webb, and Justice Rhonda Wood

Arkansas Supreme Court chief justice race:*

  • Justice Karen R. Baker: 26%
  • Rep. Jay Martin: 20%
  • Justice Barbara Webb: 26%
  • Justice Rhonda Wood: 27%

Position Three's incumbent Justice Courtney Hudson is running against Judge Carlton D. Jones for the position two seat.

Position 2 on Arkansas Supreme Court:

  • Justice Courtney Hudson: 59%
  • Judge Carlton D. Jones: 41%

U.S. House of Representatives candidates

Voters in parts of Sebastian County, Benton, Washington, Madison, and Crawford Counties will decide which Republican candidate will advance to the general election for the 3rd Congressional District seat. 

Arkansans in District 3 will have the decision between incumbent Rep. Steve Womack or state Sen. Clint Penzo

  • Rep. Steve Womack: 55% (Winner)
  • Sen. Clint Penzo: 45%

  • District 5 (Crawford County)
    • Lena Pinkerton: 20%
    • Rinda Baker: 63% (Winner)
    • Arron Edwards: 18%
  • District 2 (Washington County)
    • Taylor Samples: 58% (Winner)
    • Mark N. Scalise: 42%

    • Randy Torres (R): 67% (Winner)

    • Stephanie Funk (D): 87% (Winner)

Local races

Dyer residents will decide to elect either Lynn Hubbard or Robert Childers as mayor. 

Dyer mayor race:

  • Lynn Hubbard: 57% | 97 votes (Winner)
  • Robert Childers: 43% | 73 votes

Benton County voters will decide between Sarah Phillips or Bryan Sexton in the nonpartisan race for prosecuting attorney. In addition to choosing the county's prosecuting attorney, many residents will decide on city-specific issues. 

Benton County prosecutor:

  • Sarah Phillips: 44%
  • Bryan Sexton: 56% (Winner)

Greenland Alcohol Sales:

Greenland voters will decide to allow or disallow alcohol sales on Sundays in the city.

  • For: 64% (Winner)
  • Against: 36%

Avoca Fire & Rescue increase:

  • For: 50.38% (Winner) | 263 votes
  • Against: 49.62% | 259 votes

Bella Vista police officer pension increase:

  • For: 57% (Winner)
  • Against: 38%
