Crawford and Sebastian counties finalize early voting preparations

"Any voter can go to any voting center. All the machines are set for every precinct, which is 220 of them across [Sebastian County]," Manda Cravey said.

SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Ark. — With early voting starting Oct. 21, Sebastian and Crawford counties have finalized their preparations.

"We have set up all of our early voting sites," Sebastian County Election Coordinator Manda Cravey said. "We have six early voting sites that we have in this area — one at the courthouse, three across different park areas, a church, and a fairground."

Cravey said the Sebastian County will run 32 polling sites on Election Day.

Crawford County Election Commissioner Mike Moxley said there aren't many changes this year compared with previous elections.

"We're using the same equipment as before, so I can't think of anything that would be different from the election in March or even any of the elections last year," Moxley said.

In both Crawford County and Sebastian County, Cravey said people can go to any voting center within the county they reside in.

"Any voter can go to any voting center. All the machines are set for every precinct, which is 220 of them across the county," Cravey said. "They'll just check in with their photo ID. And if they're registered to vote, they'll be issued a standard ballot, and they'll register like they are, vote like they typically do."

Moxley and Cravey are both confident in how the votes are counted.

"There's a lot of speculation that everything's virtual and online," Cravey said. "The only thing that's connected to the internet is the poll book that they essentially check in to vote, and so that is just for us to read across from site to site, in order to ensure that no one votes more than once."

"I am extremely confident that the ballots are counted properly in Crawford County," Moxley said. "I know many of the people, and I've had a chance to get to know some of the other election coordinators and election commissioners in other counties. The procedures that we follow ... statewide are very secure in how the ballot is processed."

Early voting starts Monday morning and runs through Nov. 4.
