ARKANSAS, USA — The Arkansas Secretary of State's Office confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. submitted enough signatures to be placed on the state's ballot for the general election in November.
RFK Jr.'s campaign reportedly turned in "no less than 10,195 valid signatures" to the Secretary of State's Office. In Arkansas, Independent presidential candidates are required to turn in at least 5,000 registered voters' signatures in order to appear on the general election ballot.
Kennedy's name will be officially certified to the respective election commissions across the state by Aug. 22. To determine the order of names that presidential candidates will appear on the ballot, the draw will be no later than Aug. 26.
This confirmation in Arkansas comes after several states — such as North Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania — have been pushing against placing Kennedy on their ballots.
Kennedy claimed his campaign collected all the signatures needed to make it on the ballot in each state, but his ballot drive is facing several challenges and lawsuits.
Although a North Carolina judge confirmed Kennedy will be on the state's ballot as a presidential candidate in November, a judge in New York ruled that he falsely claimed a New York residence on nominating petitions, invalidating documents he needed to appear on the ballot in the state.
The legal challenge in Pennsylvania is still in limbo after a petition was filed claiming Kennedy's paperwork includes "numerous ineligible signatures and defects."
Oklahoma, Texas, California, and several other states have already qualified Kennedy as a presidential candidate.
