List of Arkansas counties whose property assessment deadline is extended

Residents in those counties also won't have to pay a fee for a duplicate driver's license.

ARKANSAS, USA — Severe storms and deadly tornadoes caused massive damage to several counties across Arkansas between May 24-26, leading Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to sign an executive order on May 31 to extend the assessment deadline for 13 counties impacted by the storms.

Arkansas law requires residents to get their individual and business personal property to be assessed between Jan. 1 and May 31 each year to avoid a 10% penalty.

Below are the counties included in the extension and temporarily waived fees:

  • Baxter
  • Benton
  • Boone
  • Carroll
  • Fulton
  • Grant
  • Greene
  • Madison
  • Marion
  • Nevada
  • Randolph
  • Sevier
  • Sharp

Those same counties will also have until Aug. 31, 2024, to make a quarterly estimated income tax payment.

Residents in those counties also won't have to pay a fee for a duplicate driver's license, won't have to pay for an expedited vehicle title, and won't acquire a penalty for failing to register or renew registration on a vehicle on time.

That rule is also extended until Aug. 31. After that date, people who live in the listed counties will start incurring the penalties.

On May 31, President Biden approved the state's request for a Major Disaster Declaration.

Sanders released the following statement in response to the approval.

“On behalf of all Arkansans, I extend my thanks to President Biden for his quick approval of the state’s Major Disaster Declaration request, and my gratitude to our federal delegation for helping expedite this process. As our state works with local partners, first responders, and volunteers to recover from last weekend’s devastating storms, this announcement will provide federal support to rebuild impacted communities. As we continue to assess the damage to other impacted counties, we will add them to this Declaration."
