Arkansas State Police asked to investigate house fire that killed child

EUDORA, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) are investigating a house fire that left a one-year-old dead on Oct. 24.

The fire occurred in Eudora at around 7:30 a.m. in the 900 block of North Pine Street, according to a release from ASP.

The release said ASP's Criminal Investigation Division was asked to investigate by the Chicot County Sheriff's Office.

ASP said a neighbor rescued a six-year-old boy from the fire and that the deceased one-year-old was found after the fire was extinguished. 

The release said that the body of the one-year-old is being transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab while ASP's Fire and Explosive team investigates the origin and cause of the fire.
