ARKANSAS, USA — Arkansas homeowners and renters have more time to apply for assistance if they've suffered damage from severe storms and tornadoes that hit the state between May 24-27.
FEMA announced the application extension on Friday, July 5.
Th new deadline for survivors to apply for disaster assistance is August 28 for those living in Baxter, Benton, Boone, Fulton, Greene, Madison, Marion, and Randolph counties. The previous deadline was July 29.
Assistance coverage includes:
- Rental assistance
- Temporary housing
- Home repairs
- Personal property losses
- Other disaster-related needs not covered by insurance
FEMA also offers assistance for funeral costs related to the storms. Eligible costs that could get approved for assistance may include cost of transfer of remains, casket or urn, funeral services, death certificates, burial plot, cremation, interment, cost of reinterment if disinterment is caused by the disaster, and/or occurs in a family cemetery on private property.

- go online to DisasterAssistance.gov
- download the FEMA App
