ROLAND, Okla. — A man with an active warrant was found barricaded in an attic in Oklahoma and has been taken into custody.
Officials confirmed that the Roland Police Department (RPD) responded to Gamma Circle Road on Oct. 23 in search of the man.
The suspect was wanted for failure to appear after he missed a court date related to a charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing, according to RPD.
Once on the scene law enforcement attempted to make contact with him, but he ran upstairs and barricaded himself in the attic of the house he was staying in.
Roland PD Assistant Chief Chris Waters told 5NEWS that police received information that the suspect was staying at the residence and was wanted out of Crawford and Sebastian counties.
Waters said that the suspect was barricaded in the house for over an hour. Police eventually had to force their way into the home.
The homeowner was also arrested and is facing a charge of harboring a fugitive, according to police.
Waters thanked the Cherokee National Marshal Service, the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, and the District 27 Drug Task Force for assisting.
