Former Crawford County deputy sentenced after being caught on video beating man

On Oct. 9, Levi White was sentenced to 63 months, or over five years, in the Bureau of Prisons.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — One of two former Crawford County deputies who pleaded guilty this year to violently beating a man during an arrest has been sentenced.

Levi White and fellow deputy Zackary King, both former Crawford County Sheriff's Office deputies, pleaded guilty to using excessive force while arresting a man in Mulberry over two years ago, which was caught on video.

On Aug. 21, 2022, White and King, along with Mulberry Police Officer Thell Riddle, were seen in a video on top of Randal Worcester, who they were attempting to arrest.

The video was widely circulated on social media as the deputies appeared to be hitting and kicking Worcester while he was on the ground.

On April 19, Levi White changed his plea and his trial was canceled.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Arkansas originally recommended eight years and one month of prison time for White after he changed his plea to guilty.

On Oct. 9, White was sentenced to 63 months, or over five years, in the Bureau of Prisons. Additionally, a sentencing order recommended that he participate in mental health counseling or treatment while in prison.

White also faces two years of supervised release.

King, the other deputy scene in the video, is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 10. The U.S. Attorney's Office has recommended one year in prison.
