Over 100 couples get married during eclipse ceremony in Arkansas

More than 100 couples got married during the historic total solar eclipse on Monday— taking part in an out-of-this-world ceremony in Russellville, Arkansas.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — On Monday, there were a little more than one hundred couples who said "I do" just minutes before the eclipse's totality over Russellville.

One couple decided to take the opportunity to renew their vows and reflect on all the memories they've made. They also said they used the time to look forward to the future.

"We've come through a lot," said Nancy Rea.

Little Rock couple Nancy and Steve Rea used the day of the total solar eclipse to renew the promises they made to each other almost twenty years ago on April 23, 2004.

"We've gone through healthy and wonderful days into sickness and sadder days," Nancy described.

Her husband, Steve has been battling Parkinson's Disease for two years and Nancy said he's starting to experience some memory loss, but they still persevere.

"This is just our way of just telling people that we've had 20 wonderful years. But just because things are not all going our way we don't have to stop here. You know, our love and our devotion to each other is what matters," she explained.

They even incorporated flowers from their wedding day into their vow renewal.

"We wrote some little vows for each other and I want to put that on Facebook so the family and everybody can see this afternoon," she said.

"We got through the worst parts of the medical, I know there's got to be more to come. We got through the worst parts of the financial [problems] and we can say that we are 100% out of debt," Nancy added.

She also said that though they aren't "rich," God has blessed them with everything they could ever need.

The couples in attendance at the mass wedding came from several different states to participate in the out-of-this-world ceremony that was officiated by Craig Wayne Boyd, former winner of The Voice.
