Here's how this small town Arkansas brewery is preparing for the solar eclipse

For one family business in Logan County, the eclipse couldn't have come at a better time.

LOGAN COUNTY, Arkansas — There's no doubt that small businesses in the path of totality will reap some big rewards from the millions of people expected to be in Arkansas on April 8 for the total solar eclipse.

For one family business in Logan County, this event couldn't have come at a better time.

Pridgen Family Brewery opened in August of 2020, nestled in the countryside near Scranton in Logan County.

The family has been mixing up their special brew of homemade beer to a steady size of clientele, and come that weekend, David Pridgen Jr. says he hopes that size grows.

"We're hoping to be able to have some families flying kites on Saturday. We're going to do some music on Sunday to create a good atmosphere for people," Prigden said.

And while Mondays are usually a day for the brewery to close, they're staying open for the special occasion.

"We're going to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for anybody that wants to come and enjoy some fellowship while watching the eclipse," said Pridgen, who hopes to get some out-of-towners.

"We'd love to have people come to join us and hope that they have a good experience and want to come back. The more people that see us, the more exciting it is for us."

And of course, you can't have a once-in-a-lifetime total eclipse pass through without a little merchandise, like t-shirts. What brewery wouldn't have eclipse cups in which to serve their brew?

Pridgen said with all the planning they’ve done in the last year, they are ready.

"We think we are. It's hard to say ... We've done what we could to prepare and we think we're ready for it."
