BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Brewers Guild invites the community to try out local breweries with its Pint Day event.
On March 30, 24 breweries across the state will participate in the annual event to spotlight local businesses and their "contribution in their hometowns, regions, and statewide," according to a press release from the guild.
Each brewery will be selling a Pint Day glass with commemorative artwork.
This year's theme is the "Great Arkansas Aleclipse," leaning into the total solar eclipse happening on April 8.
"We thought it would be just a great tie-in for people that wanted to get a souvenir and celebrate craft beer as well," said Lacie Bray, the president of Arkansas Brewers Guild and co-owner of Ozark Beer Co.
Bray said Saturday's event and the eclipse in April will continue to boost revenue for the local economy.
"It is an industry that has exploded," Bray said. "Breweries are buying from farmers, breweries are using distributors, retail accounts as well. And so, when you look at the things that breweries are impacting, it's impacting a lot of industries more than just their own taprooms."
Social Project Brewing Co. is one of the breweries participating in Pint Day. They created a unique eclipse inspired pour called "Bailey's Beads."
"The last couple of seconds before complete eclipse, you actually get radiating solar beads that come over these little different depths throughout the moon. And they look like little diamond rings almost around the moon. And that's called 'Bailey's beads,'" said Chris Spence, CEO and owner of Social Project Brewing Co. "We specifically selected three different pops that blend very well together but create a very what I would say a crowd-pleasing flavor."
"You're gonna get notes of fresh lime and tropical stone fruit, a little bit of white wine characteristic," Spence added. "Some nice citrus notes in there as well."
Spence said for Pint Day, if guests buy the glass, they'll get a sneak preview of the eclipse beer before April 8.
"It's really bringing awareness and sponsoring the solar eclipse and how that's going to impact the state of Arkansas. It is connecting breweries to that event," Spence said. "You're also supporting local. So all those dollars are going right back into the local economy, right back into local citizens that are working and doing these jobs."
Other breweries participating in the Pint Day celebration across the state are Arkansas Brewing Company, Bentonville Brewing Company, Bike Rack Brewing Co, Boston Mountain Brewing, Creekside Taproom, Crisis Brewing, Eureka Springs Brewery, Fayetteville Beer Works, Flyway Brewing Company, Fossil Cove Brewing Co, Goat Lab Brewery, Gotahold Brewing , Gravity BrewWorks, Greenhouse Aleworks, Native Dog Brewing , Natural State Beer Co, New Province Brewing, Ozark Beer Co, Parlor Brewing, Point Remove Brewing Company, Prestonrose Farm and Brewing Co, Pridgin Family Brewery, Rendezvous Junction Brewing Co, Social Project Brewing Co, Stone’s Throw Brewing, The Rogue Roundabout, Uptown Kitchen+Taphouse.
