ARKANSAS, USA — The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) has launched a web portal for residents and visitors to access during the 2024 Great American Eclipse which is set to take place on April 8.
With over one million people expected to travel to Arkansas to see the eclipse, ADEM is making it easier for everyone to navigate a map of events and sites on a map.
When clicking on a selected area, the map will offer the event details available including:
- Full Address
- Time and Date
- Estimated attendance
- Type of venue
While this site is normally used to help residents with emergency needs such as shelter, food, medical facilities, and more, the site will temporarily be offering the map of events.
ADEM Director A.J. Gary said the division is excited to give everyone accessibility.
"We hope these community events allow those traveling to our state to experience all the great things Arkansas offers," said Directory Gary.
Arkansas will have 53 of its 75 counties experiencing the eclipse "stretching over 100 miles across the state from the southwest to the northeast," ADEM said. Some areas will even have "more than 4 minutes of darkness."
Communities across the state are preparing to host visitors during the unique event. The website currently has over 100 activities listed that will take place "days leading up to and during" the eclipse.
