GREENWOOD, Arkansas — After a dominating 77-51 win on Saturday, March 9, over Vilonia, the Greenwood girls basketball team came home with another state title and senior guard Anna Trusty was named MVP.
"It's pretty rare to do what most people don't even get one state title and we have three in a row," said Trusty. "I just want to do my best in every game."
Trusty dropped 18 points and had six rebounds in her final game as a Lady Bulldog.
"She's been a big part of it," said head Coach Clay Reeves. "She was a really good player for our program the last four years."
As someone with plenty of experience, Reeves said he's seen Trusty become a more quiet leader that leads by example.
"Her playing wasn't quiet," said Reeves. "She was a great player for us on the floor. Great leaders don't have to say a whole lot. Whatever she's doing on the floor, it'd be a good person to follow to see what you need to do."
This was something that was a goal for her during her high school career.
"I wanted to be a good example," said Trusty. "For everyone coming up and for all the little girls. Lots of them will come to our games and tell me good job and that they love watching me. That makes me feel really good."
After snagging her third state title, Trusty will look to continue to inspire by playing in college but that major decision has yet to be made.
"I'm still talking to some coaches," said Trusty. "I'm just weighing my options right now so we'll see what happens."
As she looks to the future, Trusty can't help but be grateful for the past.
"This has been like the best four years," said Trusty. "I'm super thankful and super blessed."
