SPRINGDALE, Arkansas — Shiloh Christian's quarterback Cole Creighton is coming into his sophomore season with something to prove.
"I just stick to what my coaches always told me," said Creighton. "Just stay locked in, do your job and if everybody does their job, then we're most likely going to win."
Last season in the first quarter of the week one game, Creighton hurt his shoulder and was out for majority of the year. He made his return in week nine just in time to lead his team to the state championship game against Parkview.
A game that has stuck with him and the rest of the team since December.
"That's a big motivation for us getting stomped in the state championship, but I think that we have a really good chance this year with all of our hard work and I'm looking forward to it," said Creighton.
With that motivation, Creighton knew he had to change the way he approached the offseason. The first step was to hit the weight room.
"A year older," said head coach Tucker Barnard. "He's grown quite a bit. Put on 20 or 25 pounds and got a lot stronger in the weight room but he's a he's a great football player, great leader, great work ethic. Really checks all the boxes you're looking for."
The next step was to expand his football IQ.
"I've gotten a bunch of boys just to throw routes and really just dial it in the season," said Creighton.
Creighton has his eyes set on getting his team back to War Memorial Stadium but this time with a different result.
"It would mean everything," said Creighton. "We have worked so hard this summer and everybody's put everything into it, so it would mean a ton for us."
Creighton and the Saints head on the road to take on Little Rock Christian on Friday at 7 p.m.
