LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — While Parkview is looking for a three-peat, Farmington wants to claim their first state title since 1973.
With Tommy Tice, who recently returned from retirement, leading the way, the Cardinals have shown plenty of fight this season.
In last week's comeback win over Lakeside, Farmington recovered two onside kicks and scored two touchdowns in the last minute and a half that starting quarterback Ayden Lester said was something out of a movie.
Coach Tice said they've already proven many people wrong this season.
"If we're going to predict things, I'm always going to predict that we're going to win it," Tice said. "I don't ever predict my team to finish third or fourth. I've always predicted them to win because if they believe every word you say, then we have a chance to get it done."
The Cardinals look to get it done on Friday in the 5A state title game against Parkview. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
