Bentonville Tigers looking to bring home first state title in 10 years

The Tigers have fallen short of a state title in the last two years.

BENTONVILLE, Arkansas — The Bentonville High School football team has come up short in the 7A state title games in the last two season.

This season, the Tigers are hoping to bring home its first state title in 10 years.

The Tigers aren't returning a lot of players from last season, but they are confident in the ones that are suiting up this year.

Head coach Jody Grant said all-state tight end Eli Brooks will be one to look out for his season. Brooks will be playing on both sides of the ball this season, getting reps at linebacker.

Coach Grant said he's looking to seasoned players like Brooks to help get the team over the hump and keep the season going into December.

"It's obviously easier said than done," Grant said. "There are multiple quality teams in 7A that can win it. We just want to be considered as one of them. At the end of the season, it's our hope that we're amongst the two that are there and bringing home the trophy."

Bentonville opens the season at home against Tulsa Union on Aug. 30.
