SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The Kansas City Royals will play at the Arvest Ballpark for the first time against its minor league affiliate on Monday, March 25, at 6:05 p.m.
Justin Cole, the Naturals vice president and general manager, announced the exhibition game on Jan. 22. By Jan. 29, tickets had been sold out.
"The Royals have been tremendous partners over the years, and we could not be more excited to welcome our major league affiliate to Springdale," Cole said.
The Naturals have been a minor league affiliate of the Royals since 2008 when they made the move from Wichita, Kansas, to Northwest Arkansas. The Wichita Wranglers had been the Royals' Double-A affiliate from 1995 to 2007.
Since the move, the Naturals have made the playoffs eight times.
“Northwest Arkansas has been such a great partner for 15 years, so we are happy to be able to play this exhibition game in front of their fans,” J.J. Picollo, Royals executive vice president and general manager, said. “We were disappointed that our game in 2021 was canceled due to COVID, so we’re even more excited for Naturals fans to have a chance to see so many familiar faces who previously played in Springdale. This will be a great night for our organization.”
For those who did not secure tickets for the Royals game, the Naturals will begin the 2024 season by hosting the Tulsa Drillers on Friday, April 5, at 7:05 p.m. at the Arvest Ballpark.
