FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — In a late night extra innings ranked SEC battle Friday night the #1 Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the #8 LSU Tigers 4-3.
It was a defensive battle up until the third where the Tigers drew first blood off a Josh Pearson single to left field that scored two.
The top ranked team in the country did not take long to respond though, answering with a three run fourth inning. Ty Wilmsmeyer got things going with a RBI single down the right field line. Peyton Stovall followed that up with a ground out that saw another runner cross home, before Ben McLaughlin put the Hogs on top 3-2 with a RBI double to right.
After that, the scoring took a break until the sixth where LSU managed to bring the tying run home with a sac fly.
It would remain tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the ninth where Arkansas would have a chance to win it after getting a runner on second with no outs, however LSU was able to leave him stranded with a clutch three outs to push it to extras.
However it was only prolonging the inevitable as Arkansas was able to secure the win with a Hudson White double in the bottom of the 10th to walk it off 4-3.
