Arkansas Athletics: Football player 'no longer' on the team after allegations

Arkansas Athletics said they "immediately informed the Title IX office of the allegations."

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A football player is off the Razorback football team after allegations were made against him, officials with the University of Arkansas confirmed to 5NEWS on Thursday.

Arkansas Athletics said the student-athlete is "no longer a member of the football team" after it had heard allegations earlier this week and "immediately informed the Title IX office of the allegations."

The university says due to privacy regulations it isn't releasing the player's name.

5NEWS reached out to Fayetteville police and the University of Arkansas Police Department and both agencies said there hasn't been a complaint filed against this player and an investigation isn't currently underway.

Because the university isn't releasing the player's name and there isn't a criminal investigation as of Thursday evening, 5NEWS isn't reporting his name right now.

However, we'll continue following this story and update it if criminal charges are filed.
