FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — University of Arkansas freshman punter Blake Johnson was arrested early Saturday morning (Aug. 29) for public intoxication, minor in possession, and disorderly conduct.
According to a police report, Johnson was found urinating on a light pole in a university parking lot at 1:39 a.m. by an officer. When the officer approached him and asked why he was urinating on the light pole, he responded “because I needed to go.”
The report states the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Johnson, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery, his balance was swaying as he talked. The officer asked Johnson where he was coming from earlier in the evening and twice he told the officer Riverside, CA.
He was then arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. His bond was set for $630 according to jail records. According to the detention center website, his initial court appearance will be Monday (Aug 31.) His second court date is set for Oct. 2nd.
Johnson is listed as a freshman punter from Long Beach, Calif. on the Razorbacks roster. He earned three stars from Rivals, Scout and ESPN. and was ranked the No. 2 punter nationally. Johnson selected Arkansas over offers from Colorado, Duke and Oregon State.
