FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — When the Razorbacks take the field against MIZZOU this Friday (Nov. 27), they’re fighting for more than just bragging rights.
The silver, 180-pound Battle Line Rivalry trophy was unveiled on Monday (Nov. 23), according to a press release. The trophy stands a little higher than four feet and shows the outline of Arkansas and Missouri.
A silver insert fits into a slot along the Arkansas-Missouri border, the release states. There are two insert color options — one gold, one cardinal — chosen depending on which team wins the yearly contest.
The trophy was presented by Shelter Insurance®, and will go to the winner of the Battle Line Rivalry each year.
Last year Missouri won the inaugural Battle Line Rivalry game 21-14 in Columbia, Missouri.
The second annual contest kicks off Friday (Nov. 27) at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, the release states. The game is set for a nationally televised broadcast at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
A former Razorback football student-athlete, David Bazzel, designed the Battle Line Trophy, according to the release. Bazzel also created The Golden Boot, the annual trophy given to the winner of the Arkansas-LSU football series, which was previously held on Thanksgiving weekend.
The trophy was constructed primarily by Supreme Fixture and Sissy’s Log Cabin of Little Rock.
