Diamond Hogs stomp Oklahoma State 18-1 in Arlington

Arkansas picked up a run-rule victory in its finale at the College Baseball Showdown to finish its weekend in Texas with a 2-1 record.

In a rematch of last season's hotly contested Stilllwater Regional, the Diamond Hogs again came out on top.

No. 8 Arkansas stomped No. 9 Oklahoma State 18-1 Sunday in Arlington, picking up an emphatic victory at its final game at the College Baseball Showdown.

After an 18-6 defeat to TCU on Saturday, Arkansas bounced back in a big way against the Cowboys, run-ruling them to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record.

Junior pitcher Hunter Hollan shined in his Razorback debut, with the San Jacinto transfer allowing just one earned run in four innings of work. The lefty tallied five strikeouts, three hits and two walks in his first start.

But it was the Razorback lineup that stole the show on Sunday.

Jared Wegner led the way, going 2-4 with a home run, triple, and 5 RBI.

Wegner's three-RBI triple was part of a five-run second inning that signaled the start of a big day for the Razorback lineup.

After Arkansas loaded the bases in the top of the frame, John Bolton legged out an RBI infield single to first that scored Kendall Diggs. Tavian Josenberger followed up with an RBI sac fly that made it 2-0 Arkansas.

Peyton Stovall walked to reload the bases and that's when Wegner sent pushed everyone across home plate with a bases-clearing triple to right center that made it 5-0 Arkansas.

Arkansas added five more runs in the following inning, with Wegner again punctuating the scoring, this time with a 2-RBI frozen rope home run down the left-field line.

The Cowboys pulled a run back in the fourth on a sac fly from Sprindale-native Marcus Brown, but the Razorbacks weren't done scoring themselves.

The Diamond Hogs' third five-run inning of the game came in the fifth inning.

Josenberger's solo homer, his first as a Razorback after transferring from Kansas, started things off.

A 2-RBI double from Brady Slavens made it a 13-1 game before a wild pitch and bases loaded walk added another two runs to the Razorbacks' big lead.

Peyton Holt's RBI single in the seventh capped a three-run inning for the Hogs that made it an 18-1 ballgame.

Arkansas and Oklahoma State agreed before the game to a 10-run rule after seven innings, the same rule that will be enforced during SEC games this season.

With the Hogs leading 18-1 in the seventh, the final out of the inning marked the end of a dominating win for Arkansas.

Dave Van Horn's squad returns to Fayetteville now for its home opener, when it hosts Grambling on Tuesday at Baum-Walker Stadium (3 p.m., SEC Network+).
