D.J. Wagner officially signs with Arkansas

Former Kentucky guard D.J. Wagner committed to the Hogs on May 26, but recently made things official. He averaged 9.9 points on 40.5% shooting last season.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Former Kentucky guard D.J. Wagner officially signed with Arkansas on Wednesday, becoming the third Wildcat to follow head coach John Calipari via the transfer portal.

Wagner, 6-4 and 195 pounds, committed to the Hogs on May 26, so the roster news isn't necessarily a surprise but more of a confirmation for Razorback fans.

In his one season at Kentucky, Wagner started in 28 of his 29 appearances and averaged 9.9 points on 40.5% shooting from the field, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He also shot 29.9% from beyond the arc and 76.6% from the free throw line.

Wagner made his presence known early into his collegiate career, scoring a career-high 28 points in Kentucky's 118-82 victory over Marshall on Nov. 24. In a 111-102 win against Arkansas on March 2, the sophomore posted 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting, making a season-high four three-pointers.

The Kentucky transfer was an All-Southerastern Conference Freshman Team selection and a three-time SEC Freshman of the Week honoree last season.

Wagner joins forwards Adou Thiero and Zvonimir Ivišić as Kentucky transfers who have followed Calipari to Arkansas.
