The Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club hosted former Oklahoma State football coach and Little Rock native Pat Jones on Wednesday.
Jones coached the Cowboys for 11 seasons and finished with a career winning record. He's also a member of three different Hall of Fames, including both the Arkansas and Oklahoma Hall of Fames. Some of his conversation, like the past two weeks on his state-wide radio show was focused on the recent Sport Illustrated articles that allege major violations within the Oklahoma State football program.
“To me, I really thought it was fairly shoddy journalism,” said Jones. “I'm really surprised Sports Illustrated didn't have a whole lot of things documented. You're going to say those kinds of things, names, dates, exact places. Don't just say a man did this or another man did that or we heard that this happened. If you're going to put it out there, put it out there directly and in all honesty they didn't do it.”
Former Arkansas coach and ESPN analyst Lou Holtz is the guest speaker next week. The event will be held Monday, September 23 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.
