FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — No. 2 Arkansas baseball (8-2) defeated Murray State (6-4) in run-rule fashion, 11-1, Saturday afternoon.
Junior pitcher Brady Tygart continued the powerful Razorbacks pitching going five innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts and allowed one run on three hits.
In the fourth inning, Arkansas put four runs on the board off of a bases-loaded walk, Nolan Souza's two-RBI single and Ryder Helfrick's run-scoring double to put the Hogs ahead.
Murray State broke through against Tygart with a leadoff home run in the top of the fifth inning.
Arkansas answered back in the next frame plating five runs starting off with a solo home run from Kendall Diggs.
Right-handers Will McEntire and Cooper Dossett closed out the game with a combined four strikeouts in three shutout innings.
Arkansas and Murray State close out the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on the SEC Network.
