Arkansas Razorbacks beat Kansas Jayhawks in charity basketball game

The Hogs beat the Jayhawks, the No. 1 preseason team in the nation, 85-69.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks hosted the No. 1 ranked preseason team, the Kansas Jayhawks, for a charity exhibition game on Oct. 25 and took home the win.

According to Arkansas Athletics this is the second year in a row that the Hogs have taken on and defeated the first ranked team in the country in a preseason exhibition game.

The 16th-ranked Razorbacks won 85-69 in a sold-out Bud Walton Arena. The game also served as Arkansas Men's Basketball Coach John Calipari's debut.

Arkansas Athletics said the game was sponsored by CareSource and will benefit Arkansas Children's Hospitals and Fore the Kids Foundation, a partner of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

"CareSource is sponsoring a series of charity exhibition matchups that benefit adolescent and young adult mental health and suicide prevention initiatives, including Jay’s Light and other mental health organizations," a release from Arkansas Athletics said.

The Hogs have won 38 straight home exhibition games and now boast a 74-10 all time exhibition record.

Up next for the team is another charity game, this time in Fort Worth's Dickies Arena to face TCU on Nov. 1.
