PENSACOLA, Fla. — After finishing the regular season as SEC Champions, the Arkansas Razorbacks soccer team, came up just short of bringing home the conference's postseason tournament trophy as well.
The top seeded Razorbacks squared off against the second seeded Georgia Bulldogs in Pensacola, Florida on Saturday in a hard fought defensive battle that ultimately saw the Dawgs edge the Hogs 1-0.
The games lone goal would come in the seventh minute as the result of Arkansas giving up an own goal. The Hogs had numerous chances for an equalizer, outshooting Georgia 18-7, but they could never find the back of the net.
Perhaps their best chance same with :27 left in the game, when Ava Tankersley attempted a penalty kick that found it's way through the defense, however Georgia's Jordan Brown was able to deflect it preserving the victory and giving Georgia their first SEC title in program history.
As a consolation prize, the Razorbacks did land three players on the SEC All-Tournament team, Bea Franklin, Makenzie Malham and Ava Tankersley were all recognized for their outstanding performances.
Arkansas now awaits their NCAA tournament draw, which will be announced Monday at 3 P.M.
