LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Razorbacks started their 2024 campaign with a win in War Memorial Stadium on Thursday night.

The Hogs took on the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions and it did not take long for this now Bobby Petrino led offense to start clicking.

Though the first two plays gave some pause for concern. The first was a play-action pass by Boise State transfer quarterback Taylen Green that was nearly intercepted. The second a fumble out of bounds by Utah transfer Ja'Quinden Jackson.

After the two snafu's though, the Hogs breezed down the field and ended the eight play, 66 yard drive with an eight yard Jackson touchdown run, for the first score of the season.

As the game dictates it was then the defense's turn to hit the field, but they were no out there for long, they held the Golden Lions to a quick three and out.

The Hog's ensuing drive seemed equally as quick ending in five plays with a read-option keep by Green that saw him walk into the endzone untouched from four out to make it 14-0 Razorbacks.

The boys from Fayetteville would once again hold UAPB to a three and out on the next drive and would again score in short order after.

Their third drive was also the fastest of the night as Jackson broke a 46-yard run to the endzone on the third play to give the Hogs a commanding 21-0 lead less than 10 minutes in.

That lead would grow to 28-0 by the end of the first quarter as Rodney Hill would take his turn to punch in a score, his from four-yards away.

For as good as the offense was though, the defense was equally as impressive in the first frame logging five tackles for loss on 13 UAPB offensive plays.

To start the second quarter, it was more of the same from the Arkansas offense, with one minor difference, they would score through the air for the first time.

Green would find Tyrone Broden on a crossing route on second and goal and he would do the rest, taking it nine-yards to the endzone making it 35-0.

Green would record his second passing touchdown of the night on the next drive, dropping a dime into tightend Ty Washington from 23-yards away.

However Petrino's offense still wasn't done.

Green perfectly orchestrated a seven play 77-yard drive inside the final two-minutes, in which he scampered into the endzone from 36-yards away to make it 49-0 at the half and steal a piece of Arkansas history.

Green's touchdown marked the first time in Razorback history that they had scored on the first seven drives of a game.

At the half both sides agreed to shorten the remaining quarters down to ten minutes and Arkansas would sit their starters for the remainder of the game.

However the rest of the depth chart kept the standard, as they would put up another 21 points as the Hogs rout the Golden Lions 70-0.

The 70 points are the 7th most scored by the program in a single-game all-time, but the 10 consecutive scoring drives set a new program record.

Green would finish his first night as a Razorback 16/23, 229yds and 2TD's. Leading the way on the ground was Jackson who made the most of his eight carries, logging 101 yards and punching in two scores.

The Hogs will hit the road to Stillwater, Oklahoma for a true test of where their program stands as they face the #17 Oklahoma State Cowboys Sept. 7 at 11 A.M.
