FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 14 Arkansas softball (32-12, 11-7 SEC) shutout No. 15 Alabama (31-12, 8-10), 8-0, to take the series Sunday afternoon.
This is the fourth consecutive top ranked weekend series win for Arkansas and back-to-back series win versus Alabama.
Bri Ellis got the Hogs on the board in the first inning with a two-run blast to left field. Arkansas would add five more runs in the frame to have a commanding 7-0 lead.
The eighth run would come off of a sacrifice fly from Hannah Gammill in the bottom of the fourth.
Morgan Leinstock would only allow three hits and struck out five in her five innings of work. Nia Carter went 3-for-3 from the plate, matching a career high.
Leinstock shutout Alabama in Friday's 1-0 nine inning win. She allowed a total of eight hits and punched out eleven for the weekend.
Arkansas heads on the road for another ranked weekend series matchup against No. 7 LSU starting on Friday at 6 p.m. on the SEC Network+.
