FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Softball returned to Bogle Park on Thursday, as did the Razorbacks winning.
Arkansas took on Illinois State in their first game of the Razorback Invitational and they put on a show for the softball starved fans of Fayetteville.
The Razorbacks started early and often on offense putting up four runs in the first inning off the bats of Bri Elllis and Hannah Gammill. Elllis posting an RBI double, while Gammill offered up the first Bogle bomb of the season to score the other three runs.
They would pick the scoring back up in the third with a Rylin Hedgecock RBI and a Kennedy Miller 2 RBI single to move the score to 7-0, which is where it would stay until the end.
That was due in large part to solid pitching by Reis Beuerlein who picked up the opening day win with four scoreless innings. Nikki McGaffin and Morgan Leinstock would bring it home preserving the shut out for the final three innings.
Arkansas improves to 9-2 on the season with the win and will face UT-Arlington at 3:00 P.M. Friday back at Bogle.
