FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Update: Fayetteville Parks and Recreation confirmed the pool reopened on Tuesday, June 25.
The pool at Wilson Park in Fayetteville was closed on June 24 to be treated and disinfected, according to a post by the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department.
"The Wilson Park Pool will be closed today due to an unexpected need for intensive cleaning and disinfection," said the city, who went on to say they would raise the chlorine levels and disinfect all surfaces and pumps.
The city will reportedly reopen the pool when the chlorine levels are lowered following the cleaning. The post did not state the direct cause of the shutdown.
As part of the announcement, Fayetteville's Parks and Recreation Department noted that "These things happen."
