Razorback sprinter breaks world record in Paris Olympic mixed relay qualifying

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — On the World's biggest stage, 19-year old Razorback sprinter Kaylyn Brown shined her brightest by helping the United State's mixed 4x400 meter relay team set a new world record. 

The previous record of 3:08.80 was bested by over a second as Team USA clocked a blazing 3:07.41 in the qualifying round of the 2024 Summer games in Paris. 

Brown served as the anchor of the record setting team and her split of 49.5 was the fastest of the anchors and was the second best overall.

The top split for the women, belongs to Shamier Little at 49.32. Little also has ties to Arkansas, as she trains in Fayetteville under coach Chris Johnson.

As for the two men on the team, the lead-off Vernon Norwood posted a 44.47, while the third leg of the race Bryce Deadmon would clock a 44.17.

The team will run in the final Saturday at 1:55 p.m.
