CRAWFORD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is proposing a project that would widen a stretch of Highway 59 in Crawford County.
The project's purpose is to improve traffic and safety by widening the 0.73-mile area between Sherwood Street and Pointer Tail Road in Van Buren.
ARDOT says the roadway would go from two lanes to three and include a 5-foot sidewalk and greenspace.
Also a part of the project will be intersection improvements at Mt. Vista Boulevard, storm sewer installation, erosion control, and pavement.
ARDOT is holding an in-person meeting at Van Buren Senior Activity Center on Thursday, June 29 from 4-7 p.m. to discuss the project. If anyone wants to view materials for the proposed project, there is a spot on the ARDOT website with a video presentation, the ability to download exhibits, and to provide comments.
Comments for this meeting will be received through Friday, July 14, 2023, at 4:30 pm.
