FORT SMITH, Ark. — The City of Fort Smith has announced a handful of road closures over the next few weeks due to a variety of reasons, from street reconstruction to installing water lines.
Beginning on Tuesday, June 27, Phoenix Avenue on the east and west sides of Towson Avenue will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. to repair the street after there was a leak at that intersection, the City says.
Once the construction is completed, the area will be confined to a single-lane closure until the road is ready for traffic which is estimated to be Wednesday afternoon.
Madeline Road and St. Francis Circle will be closed from June 27-30 due to street reconstruction between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. The City of Fort Smith says to expect delays if you plan on traveling through the area and to consider alternative routes.
From June 27 until June 30, Jenny Lind Road and Dallas Street will be limited to one lane during construction on the street. The work during those days are expected to be from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
N L Street is expected to be closed from N 30th to N 32nd streets between June 26 and July 3, the City says. This closure is due to installing a water line in the area. There will be a detour down North 32nd and North I streets.
On July 10 and 11, Free Ferry Road and South 74th Street will be undergoing utility work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., times in which those streets will be closed.
Detours will be located at S. 74th and Euper Lane and S 66th and Free Ferry Road. South 74th to Riverlyn Drive and Free Ferry to Rivercrest Drive will be open to through traffic only.
