ARKANSAS, USA — "Northwest Flow... Weatherman's Woe" -- That's what meteorologists call the type of pattern we are in as the jet stream has a NW to SE tilt over the Ozarks. These types of systems tend to bring sporadic storms. However these storms have been slow moving, dropping several inches of rain over Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The Arkansas River Valley within 30 miles of Fort Smith picked up over a foot of rain, becoming the wettest region of the nation this week so far.

Over 8 inches of rain have fallen in Fort Smith, making it the wettest city in the U.S. this week so far, contrasted to other cities with 50k residents or more.

Much of the central and eastern U.S. has been wet this week. Storms have dropped heavy rain in Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky as well. Last week and weekend Florida was the wettest spot with the tropical storm that hit the peninsula.
Places like Fort Smith, Van Buren, Moffett, Pocola, Spiro, Roland, Muldrow, and Fort Chaffee has had some of the highest rainfall totals this week so far.

Average June Rainfall for Fort Smith: 4.5"
The River Valley has picked up the most rain so far this week. Many locations picking up near or more than a half foot of rainfall. Fort Smith set a daily rainfall record on Tuesday.
Average June rainfall for Fayetteville: 4.3"
Northwest Arkansas picked up a healthy amount rain as well with a couple inches in spots. The heaviest rain fell closer to the mountains.
