ARKANSAS, USA — It's time to go back to school! As teachers, students, and administration get ready for the first day of school, the "first day of school outfits" are getting laid out. Will you need to add a raincoat to the outfit?

We couldn't have asked for a nicer forecast for the last weekend of summer vacation as daytime highs were only in the 70s and 80s. Rain chances are picking up for most of Sunday as widespread showers and thunderstorms keep temperatures pretty mild.

On Monday morning, scattered showers are expected to continue but only expected to last for the morning hours for most.

The latest models show scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms starting in Northwest Arkansas and moving south into the River Valley a bit later in the morning.

Timing

Northwest Arkansas | 3 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Eastern Oklahoma | 3 a.m. to 12 p.m.

River Valley | 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

How much rain?

Is everyone going to get rained on? The simple answer is no. Monday's rain is going to be very scattered and mainly during the morning hours. We can rule out any type of severe weather, but you may hear a rumble of thunder now and then. Showers should be done for the most part as those kiddos get back on the school bus and head back home.

Rest of the week

The summer heat will return throughout the rest of the school week with heat index values back into the triple digits!
