FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A rush of warm air is bringing light spotty showers into the area today. Overcast skies and on and off drizzles will keep temperatures cool in the low 70s this afternoon. Heavy rain returns to the area early Sunday morning.
If you are heading out to the Razorbacks game, expect to see a few sprinkles! A chill is lingering in the air through the early portion of the game. The cool air will only be exaggerated by gusty winds blowing in from our southeast from 5 to 15 mph.
Thunderstorms work into our area early Sunday morning bringing threats of strong, gusty winds and small hail. Heavy rain will pour throughout the day. Temperatures stay in the low to mid 70s tomorrow with winds blowing in from the south with speeds between 15 to 20 mph. A level 1 out of 5 risk has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center for Sunday.
By Monday, a cold front will be pressing into Arkansas and Oklahoma. Showers and thunderstorms will pop out ahead of the front with a majority of our more severe threats holding off until the afternoon and evening. We are building in the ingredients for severe weather throughout the weekend which will lead to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Exact threats are still coming into view for these early week storms. We will keep you up to date on all things weather right here.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed the entire area under a Level 2 out of 5 risk for Monday. As large amounts of rain drop across the area, flash flooding risks increase.
