ARKANSAS, USA — Strong to severe storms are expected to arrive in Arkansas sometime Monday evening. With warmer temperatures and higher humidity, these potential storms have a lot of energy to use this evening.
Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has all of 5COUNTRY highlighted under a level 3—out of 5—enhanced risk for severe weather.
The latest model runs suggest that a line of thunderstorms will develop and arrive in Western Arkansas sometime between 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday. All threats will be available, and they include large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado chance.
Storm threats:
Our main concern this evening is going to be the chance to see large hail cores and damaging wind gusts. We could see pockets of hail the size of tennis balls or larger this evening, around the 2"+ range should be expected.
Damaging winds could possibly gust near 60+ mph, which would induce at least a severe thunderstorm warning. An isolated tornado can not be ruled out, which is the chance of seeing some of these cells rotate this evening.
The Latest Timing:
The latest model runs suggest that we could see a line of thunderstorms start to develop across Central Oklahoma around 8 p.m. and then push into 5COUNTRY around 10 p.m. this evening.
Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley should be prepared for strong to severe thunderstorms into early Tuesday morning around 1 a.m. These storms should weaken as they push into Central Arkansas. Stay prepared this evening and up to date with 5NEWS for the latest updates.
