The National Weather Service in Tulsa released their preliminary findings on the tornadoes in LeFlore Co that occurred on Memorial Day.

PUSHMATAHA...LATIMER...AND LE FLORE COUNTIES FROM STORMS ON THE
EVENING OF MAY 25TH. FOUR TORNADO PATHS WERE INVESTIGATED.

SURVEY SUMMARY: THIS TORNADO DEVLOPED OVER HEAVILY WOODED TERRAIN
THAT IS INACCESSIBLE BY ROAD. THE SURVEY TEAM FOUND SNAPPED AND
UPROOTED TREES WHERE IT DID CROSS ROADS NORTHEAST OF FANSHAWE.
RADAR DATA SUGGESTS THE TRACK WAS FAIRLY WELL CURVED WITH THE
TORNADO MOVING NORTHEAST AND THEN CURVING NORTHWARD AT THE END OF
ITS LIFECYCLE WHERE IT CROSSED COUNTY ROAD N4595.

END LOCATION:           2.6 NW PANAMA / LE FLORE COUNTY / OK
END LAT/LON:            35.2001 / -94.6966

SURVEY SUMMARY: THIS TORNADO DEVELOPED NEAR KERR MANSION SOUTH-
SOUTHWEST OF POTEAU. IT MOVED NORTH-NORTHEAST THEN TURNED MORE
NORTHWARD WEST OF POTEAU AND EVENTUALLY CURVED NORTH-NORTHWEST AS
IT MOVED THROUGH SHADY POINT AND WEST OF PANAMA BEFORE
DISSIPATING. SEVERAL HOMES WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED WITHIN THE
PATH...A NUMBER OF OTHERS RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THEIR ROOFS...AT
LEAST TWO MOBILE HOMES WERE DESTROYED...BARNS AND OUTBUILDINGS
WERE DESTROYED...A CELL TOWER WAS PARTIALLY COLLAPSED...NUMEROUS
TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED...AND POWER POLES WERE BLOWN DOWN
WITHIN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADO.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO THE
FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH
