ARKANSAS, USA — Donations are underway after severe weather ripped through parts of the state on May 26. The storms also caused downed trees and power lines, which left thousands without electricity. Clean-up efforts are still underway as many families find themselves stranded without homes or vehicles.
Multiple communities and organizations have come together at this time of need, helping in ways they can.
Arkansas Disaster Relief Program
For those who wish to make monetary donations, the Arkansas Disaster Relief Program (ADRP) is now open to accept donations for those impacted by "declared disasters."
Monetary donations can be sent online or via mail to:
DFA-OAS
PO BOX 2485
Little Rock, AR 72203
Those who plan on mailing a check should make it payable to DFA and include a memo note saying "Donation for Disaster Relief." The money will go to the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management. Donations can also go to specific communities by noting it on the check. Otherwise, ADRP says "The determination of amount and recipient will be dependent upon the effect of the disaster upon the community and the need within the community."
It's important to note that ADEM is able to use the donated funds to help communities "experiencing major impacts from a declared disaster."
Donations to ADRP are tax-deductible, and those who donate will receive a receipt.
Rogers School District
Rogers School District has banded together to help the community by opening up Rogers High School as a shelter. They have also been collecting monetary donations and essential items for storm victims.
You can make monetary donations through the disaster relief resource page on their website. You will need to create an account with the link they provide. Once that is done, select "Rogers Public School Disaster Recovery Donation" and add the amount you would like to donate.
Essential item donations can be dropped off at the main entrance of Rogers High School at 300 S Dixieland Rd, Rogers, AR 72758.
Items include:
Nonperishable food with higher nutritional value (tuna, peanut butter, beef jerky, nuts)
Soap
Toothbrushes
Deodorant
Band-aids
Alcohol wipes
Rubbing alcohol
Tylenol/Ibuprofen - smaller bottles
Baby meds
Towels

They also accept volunteers as an "administrator on duty around the clock in the arena" will assign you.
