BENTON COUNTY, Ark. — A fourth person is confirmed to have died as a result of storms that spawned multiple tornadoes in Benton County on May 26.
Benton County coroner Daniel Oxford said a 61-year-old woman was recovered from Little Sugar Creek on May 28, and that her death is being attributed to severe weather.
She was found east of Highway 72. Oxford said she went into the water voluntarily. This marks the fourth death attributed to severe storms that tore through Benton County on Sunday, leaving behind a wake of destruction.
Included in that toll is a woman who reportedly died when her oxygen device failed due to power loss, 80-year-old Linda Dorey whose home was hit by a tree in Monte Ne, and Christopher Jaglin, 59, who died after kayaking on Sugar Creek Sunday morning.
Another death, due to a reported heart attack, was initially attributed to the storms but has since been taken off of that list.
