Here's where you can celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Arkansas

Check out this list of places where you can learn more about Hispanic Heritage!

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) is right around the corner, and Arkansans are getting ready for many fiestas! From Northwest Arkansas to the River Valley, locals can find events to celebrate and learn from the Hispanic culture. 

Here's a list of a few things you can do to get started, but with HHM running from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, these are just the beginning!

Fayetteville

Siloam Springs

The City of Siloam Springs is hosting its 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival at Memorial Park downtown. The festival will feature artisan crafts, food, performances, and more.

Rogers

  • Gaby's Bakery - 780 W Pine St. open seven days a week from 4 p.m. -10 p.m.

Gaby's bakery offers pastries that are a household staple in many Latino homes. Enjoy a traditional pastry at its location open any day!

Springdale

A pop-up market will be set up at Con Pilas Coffee Haus, supporting Hispanic-owned small businesses. The time has yet to be announced!

  • Loteria Night - Sunday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Con Pilas Coffee Haus

Loteria is a popular game among Hispanics that's played just like bingo, except the cards have a variety of vibrant characters and are traditionally played with dried pinto beans as markers. 

  • ArkanSalsa Fest - Sept. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Shiloh Square Downtown.

Enjoy free chips and salsa, live music, loteria, a salsa contest, a parade, free resources and more. 

  • Con Pilas Coffee Haus - 7321 W. Sunset Ave.

Try out coffee or pastries with a Latin twist at the new place in town! Con Pilas Coffee Haus offers authentic Latin flavors, and you can lounge, play games, or even study in their private cubicles! 

Fort Smith

This event will have free food and live music. Feel free to bring your own lawn chairs!

First Generation Latino Professionals - Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the UAFS Business and Industrial Institute 102 (Latture Conference Room) and Lobby.

During this event, first-generation Latino professionals talk about their experiences, struggles, and successes that have led them to where they are now. They will also be available to answer questions and offer advice to rising professionals.

Try out an authentic Mexican ice cream, snack, or flavored water at any of these spots:

  • La Nueva Michoacana - 1820 C St. 
  • Vargas Fruteria - 1020 N Greenwood Ave.
  • Rubi Snacks - 2925 Midland  Blvd. 
  • Delicias Michoacana - 2304 Rogers Ave.
