Jersey’s funeral was held at Rollins Chapel in Rogers.
"Very good, kind girl, she touched a lot of people’s hearts, even in the schools,” said Isaac Stover, a family friend. “She just had that about her. She always had a good smile on her."
Bentonville Police chief Jon Simpson, detectives who worked on the case, along with other law enforcement attended funeral services. Police led the procession of cars to the Bentonville Cemetery to lay the girl in her final resting place.
"Jersey had some tragedies brought on by people with no hearts but she loved life. She laughed much and smiled more,” the funeral program stated.
Monday night police arrested 28-year-old Zachary Holly in connection with the murder investigation into her death. He faces capital murder, kidnapping, and residential burglary charges. Holly lived next door to the little girl. His home lies between Jersey`s house and the vacant house where her body was found on Nov. 20.
"That girl out there didn't deserve this,” Stover said. “Didn't deserve none of it. Nothing to deserve to be at a place like this."
Holly is scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon. Details surrounding Jersey’s cause of death are expected to be released at that time.
Jersey is the same child whose father and stepmother were imprisoned for chaining her to a dresser earlier this year.
David Bridgeman was sentenced to 18 years in prison in June after he pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, permitting the abuse of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Jana Suzanne Slinkard, the girl’s stepmother, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on the same charges. She received an additional three years for violating her probation on a previous drug offense.
