FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas has placed sanctions on the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity following a hazing investigation.
The Director for the Office of Student Standards and Conduct, Rachel Eikenberry addressed a letter to the fraternity's president issuing the sanctions. In the letter, Eikenberry said the fraternity "was alleged to have hosted an initiation ritual in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity House," with what she said was a "video taken depicting members hitting initiates with a wooden paddle while onlookers observed, yelled, and videoed the interaction."
These allegations were reported on April 6, according to the letter. The fraternity also known as "Pike" will be removed from its residence located on Arkansas Avenue after the fall 2023 semester and will last until the Spring of 2025, according to the letter.
Fraternity members will be able to return to their fraternity housing during the fall semester of 2025 if they meet all requirements for reinstatement, the letter states.
