ADH: Boil order issued for Hartford

Customers are advised that water is not safe to consume without boiling.

HARTFORD, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A precautionary boil order was issued for the city of Hartford on Wednesday, May 29, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Officials said this is due to "the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of a loss in normal system pressure from a main break."

Customers are advised that water is not safe to consume without boiling. Any water that is planned to be used for drinking or preparing food "must be boiled briskly for one minute" before use, officials said. Ice cubes should be thrown out and if remade, should only be done with water that has already been boiled.

It is unknown how long the boil order will be in place, but 5NEWS will keep you updated with the latest.
